In the Home is all about interior design, making your cozy space your own or other home-related things.

One of the best parts about autumn and winter is that you are almost forced to slow down a bit on the weekends – especially on windy rainy or snowy days. Now, I don’t know about you guys, but my star sign is Cancer, so as much as I love going out for boozy dance-filled weekends, going to shows, and taking part political and art-related events in Berlin, I am also just as happy happy creating an inviting nest for myself, and hibernating the weekend away. There is nothing better than waking up late on Saturday or Sunday morning, hanging around in your softest homeware, and indulging in some good ole hibernation.

10 Ways to hibernate this weekend

001: Fill up on nourishing food and warm drinks
002: Spend a slow morning in the kitchen baking
003: Finally make some time for some pleasure reading
004: Get your creativity on through painting, drawing or taking photos
005: Write down your dreams and plan big things
006: Put some records on and lounge around in bed or on the sofa
007: Soak in the tub alone or with your significant other
008: Get your cuddle on with your s.o. and/or fur babies
009: Catch up on your Netflix queue
010: Extend your lazy morning into the evening by ordering in and watching movies on the sofa all night.

What are your favorite ways to hibernate on the weekends?

I have done quite a few of these today. I tend to overwork myself on the weekends because, especially with the shorter days, that’s when I get the most photography done. So I try extra hard to photograph tons of things so I can stay ahead on my blog and get extra housecleaning done and whatever else I feel like I need to do at the moment. But today is different. Today is lovely because today, it’s raining. Today, I have no choice but to be less busy. I’ve made scones, coffee, read some of my book, have my dogs up next to me currently, and I am sure Netflix is going to follow later tonight. Not going anywhere and it feels great!

I can totally relate to you – I end up mostly using the weekends to catch up on work because if I don’t I just feel guilty and behind on work. But yes, we all need to also make time to just step back and be lazy sometimes! Good on you for making that choice! What do you plan on watching on netflix tonight?

  • i have to remember these. I’ve been staying home lately but so far, I’m not doing anything, not even relaxing things. For some reasons, it hmmm, stresses me off. I sure would love to be creative on my spare time, to feel relax :)

    • rae

Oh no, well that is not good if it stresses you out! Maybe you have to find something that works for you and then you can relax and not feel worried!

  • Hibernating like a bear this weekend. 005 is my favourite. Allows me to recollect the mind, breathe and focus on what the final goal is :) Have a great weekend too Rae!

Awesome! Yes, do it and writing down things really does help to re-center ourselves and remind us of our goals to help us achieve them!

  • I haven’t got much done this weekend too because the weather’s been terrible. So I decided to use it as a relaxing weekend, and so far I’m making to do lists to plan ahead and getting some reading done :)

    • rae

Bad weather is definitely a call for staying indoors and hibernating! Good luck with catching up on reading!

  • When I know I have no plans and get to stay in, it’s the best feeling! I actually sat down and listen to some music today, which was so relaxing. I also made a stew for dinner and watched Netflix of course ;)

    Hanh / hanhabelle

    • rae

I could not agree with you more, Hanh! What kind of music are you currently listening to and what are you currently watching on Netflix? And a stew sounds absolutely amazing for fall.

      • I was listening to all the old Jewel albums (US country singer) which was lovely…then was watching Suits :)

  • I stay in a lot more when it gets darker in the evenings and the clocks change here in the UK tomorrow so I’ll be hibernating as much as I can!
