In the Kitchen is where you will find all my recipes and adapted recipes, tried, tested, and eaten.

One of my favorite quick meals is the infamous smoothie. They are really easy to make and you can basically swap in and out any of your favorite fruits. My go-to? A banana smoothie. It’s crazy cos I am pretty sure I could never eat 3 bananas in a row, but somehow when they’re liquefied it’s all good. Here’s how I make mine:

Banana Smoothie

Ingredients:
3 bananas
a cup of soy milk
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cardamom spice* (unfortunately I was missing this so my smoothie didn’t have that nice “kick,” but was still very tasty.)
a few squirts of sweetener

001: pour a cup of milk into a blender or blending cup (used with a hand held blender).
002: Break up the bananas and throw them in.
003: Add the spices and a few squirts of sweetener. Blend.
004: Pour into a glass and enjoy!

*Add cardamon to upgrade your already amazing banana smoothie to a spicy chai banana smoothie.

  • I wouldn’t be able to eat three bananas in one sitting either! I heard that’s the really good thing about shakes, you can cram as many fruits and veg as you’d like and somehow you’re able to down it all in one sitting, haha.

  • lovely. during the summer mornings we always had smoothies. so filling and healthy too!

  • Simple smoothies are my favourite! I just got a blender for Christmas so I’m only really starting to drink smoothies regularly now (I know, I’m so late to this). I started out with really complicated ones with a lot of ingredients, but now I’m realizing that the best ones are always the most simple. Can’t wait to try this! I have a ton of cardamom in my pantry too :)

Oh, and your kitty measuring cups are too cute!

  • Hi! I’m so tickled we found each other! :) I loved what you said about not eating three bananas in a row! So true, right? This looks so good, and I love your sweet cat bowl! :) My son used to have smoothies for breakfast every morning, but we haven’t done that for ages. Maybe once it gets warmer, we’ll both start again.

My son is taking German in school, and can’t wait for his exchange trip to Berlin and other spots. We head to Stockholm this summer and he’s been trying to talk us into a side trip! ;) He’s ready!
