NYE Nibbles with Honeysuckle Catering

  • Dec 30, 2014

In the Kitchen is where you will find all my recipes and adapted recipes, tried, tested, and eaten.

Dzung of Honeysuckle Catering has created a 5 part video series on youtube showing 3 different types of ways to prepare Crostinis. Absolutely perfect for any of you who might be hosting parties for New Years. (Me? Well, since I am currently spending quality family time in the States until the fourth, I will be opting for a quiet New Years full of hotel food this year, but will definitely be making these back in Berlin the next time I entertain.) The great thing about Crostinis is that the combination of toppings extend far beyond these three examples and are virtually endless, meaning you can satisfy all your guests and all of their dietary preferences/needs. And feel free to get creative and come up with your own Crostini toppings as well and let me know about them.

002: preparing the baguette
003: Goat Cheese with Arugula, Roasted Beets, and Orange – vegetarian, but can easily be made vegan with substituting a tofu based cream cheese for the goat cheese
004: Avocado with Smoked Salmon and Parmesan – Great for omnivore and pescetarian friends
005: Honey Ricotta with Strawberries – a lovely vegetarian dessert

  • Hi there! I just found your blog via a rather great and thoughtful comment and so I was intrigued to check out your blog (I feel like you can tell a lot about a person through their writing style, and I decided that you are the type of person that I would love to connect with! :) ) I’ve been pursing through your archives and I love your blog–it’s so aesthetically pleasing! You’ve found a keeper in me! ;)
Anyway, this video is making me hungry! I’m spending New Years rather tame and quiet with my family much like yourself, so I am definitely saving it for when I’ve returned to my apartment! (although I don’t know how I feel about the combination of 003 haha)
Now if you don’t mind me I’m going to continue exploring your site! xx

Hi Hoda, thank you very much for your comment. It always makes me so happy when I get a change to connect with people through blogging. Thank you so much for your kind words and I am glad that you enjoy the content you have found here. Your New Years sounds really wonderful and you will have to let me know if you end up making these once you return to your own flat!

      • I totally agree–blogging is so much more rewarding when you can make meaningful relationships! Looking forward to seeing a lot more of you in 2015! :)

  • I’m not hosting on NYE (which could be a relief but I’m seeing all these great recipes and kind of wishing I was so I could try them all out) but I am planning a little get together for February sometime. I do love crostinis and this seems like a great addition to any party.

I think they would be perfect for a little get together. Let me know how they turn out!

  • Mmm goat cheese, arugula and roasted beats. Sounds like the perfect passed app at a NYE party! Thank you for sharing!

      No problem, Rachel

  • I love crostinis. The restaurant I served at actually had a shrimp crostini special once, and I’m still terribly heartbroken that it never made it to the menu. Anyways, I’m pretty sure I heard my stomach grumble after watching the video, haha

Maybe you can make it back out to your old restaurant eventually :) and yes, Dzung has some fabulous recipes on her channel!
