If you haven’t figured it out by now, we here at LFB Blogazine are not shy about our love of strong women.
After all, we are a team of 12 of them. Women have come such a long way, but even as we celebrate femininity, try to put an end to girl-on-girl hate and work hard towards achieving equality across the board and make more progress than the generations before us, the work is far from finished.
Forth-wave feminism has brought about nuanced discussions concerning intersectionality and solidarity with other social justice movements, but until we end systemic sexism, we need to keep fighting the good fight. Which is why it is so damned awesome that major companies are paving the way and empowering women to be everything they can be and to prove that our gender is not something to look down upon. In fact, it is an asset if anything.
Nike* is one such company working hard to show women that they are both beautiful AND powerful and that their beauty is not just physical (although there are definitely no shortage of babes out there!) but also made up of all the sum of ALL of our parts – our mind, our souls, our intellect and everything else in between makes us forces to be reckoned with and this is true beauty and true power.
The whole reason I decided to turn Love from Berlin into a lifestyle blogazine is to highlight this exact mentality and to show women that they are multi-faceted creatures. We can love beauty and fashion while still be the politically active #girlbosses I know most of you are. We are not one dimensional. We are not static. We are active in every sense of the word.
Nike inspired women to run in the very literal sense of the word which was monumental in terms of women being respected in the sports world, but now they are taking this concept and turning it into something metaphorical. We have the power and agency not only to run with our own two feet but to run anything. We run our own lives, we run our own businesses, we run for office, we run the world. (After all if Beyonce said it, it must be true.) And it doesn’t hurt to look good while doing so.
