LFB got a facelift this weekend!

This weekend, I decided to go with the less-is-more approach and have reduced the design, menus, and sidebar content on LFB considerably. I hope that this approach will make the site a lot easier to navigate. If you are looking for a particular series, do not fear! I have a whole page dedicated to LFB’s re-occurring series, which you can find on the sidebar under the category “quick browse.” I will still be making some small changes in the coming weeks and months here and there, but I am really happy with this simpler approach to things.

I would love to hear your feedback on the new design and to find out if it is easier to understand what LFB is all about at one quick glance!

Schedule Changes

You may have also noticed that I have been posting less frequently during the last few months. As much as I wanted to stick to a schedule of daily posting, with all my new life changes – moving, fixing up my new flat, starting my photography business, doing photography client work – it is just not feasible to force myself to churn out daily posts. It has taken the fun out of blogging, put me under tremendous amount of pressure, and makes me feel like a hamster in a wheel, never really finding time do make big things happen for LFB or my photography business.

So for the time being, I am taking my foot off the gas for a bit and will be posting an average of every other day. There will be some weeks that I might be posting daily, and I do really hope to make that the standard soon but for now, this is just the best option! I hope you guys won’t be too disappointed!

      Thanks so much Jane, and yeah it’s a fine line because I am trying to really make LFB both my passion and career so I feel this obligation to daily post and keep raising numbers, but I think I need to sit back for a bit because I feel a bit like a dog chasing it’s tail!

      Oh I agree with you entirely! I am still going to try to shoot for as many days a week as possible, but try not to take it so hard if I’m not able to do so every week!

      Thanks so much lady! And yes, I guess like all things, even blog designs go through different fads and I think these very clean minimalistic ones are very popular at the moment! And yes quality over quantity is key, quality ever day is the ultimate dream though!

  • I love the new design! And don’t feel guilty for not posting as often – quality over quantity is always a good rule of thumb, and a writer’s love for what they do is better than someone who puts out daily posts because they think they have to.

      Thank you so much lady and yes I know it is a good rule of thumb and I never post shit quality stuff (at least I hope not, but I only post things I am proud of!) but I just end up staying up for hours just to churn it out and it just hasn’t been healthy for me. I also get so behind on commenting here too and just feel so horrible for not being able to reply to everyone and then comment on their blogs, but it really takes hours a day if I were to stay on top of it all. Still trying to figure out how to handle the commenting dilemma :(

  • The new design is fantastic. It’s very clean and showcases the photographs well. I go back and forth between a white background or grey with content in white all the time. Makes everything look neat!

  • I love the new design! It looks beautiful, and I love that you still kept all the posts underneath each other as you scroll down. A lot of the newer layouts I’ve been seeing around when people redesign their blogs look beautiful but kind of lose the bloggy feel that still makes the most sense to me when it comes to navigation. You did a great job! :)

      Thanks so much and yes I agree – while I would like to have it in a two-grid system (having some problems with getting that to work, ha!) I know what you mean. Some new layouts are so fancy and magazine-style that they really do not feel like blogs and I often get really confused about which post is the most recent and it just ends up annoying me! A blog should definitely still have a bloggy feel. Thanks love!

  • The new layout looks AWESOME! And I completely know what you mean. I too have been wanting to start a side photography gig, and with a full-time PR job AND a blog, I’ve let my posting fall to the wayside. It’s not that I want to, but like you said, it’s not feasible to post daily when there are so many things going on. Quality is better than quantity in my opinion. Major props to the ladies who find time to do it all!
