Chillin’ in my Blackwater Studios T-Shirts that was so graciously gifted to me

In life

I have finally nailed my ollie. It took me months of being too scared to do exactly what I knew I needed to do in order to make it happen, and finally having the courage to do it. Soon after, it was manageable. I am still very much a beginner when it comes to skateboarding, and I know that I have a lot of fear that holds me back in comparison to a lot of other beginners I skate with. But for me, it’s about doing something that I really love (despite my crippling fear) and not giving up. I think there is also a lot to be said about doing something you might not technically be great at in the first place as well. Anyone can do something they are naturally gifted at, but it takes even more drive to stick at something you aren’t the best at. When I get to a level I think it’s worth sharing, I will definitely share some photos and videos here.

Fit in a fair amount of shooting last week and also attended Freunde von Freunden‘s #thesoonernow, which was an incredible day full to talks all about ubanization in the modern internet age ranging from talks about local food movements, the airspace phenomenon in the age of air bnb, non-profit movements to help the regufee population and a lot more.

Other than that, there is just a lot of work and photos to edit in time for tomorrow. I have been working really hard at not loosing a social life while trying to grow my career, but it’s also extremely important for me not to entirely loose my focus.

Come Together

(video of the week)

Lately it seems like there are a lot of well-made spoofs/love-tributes dedicated to Wes Anderson, but the man has finally brought something out in his own signature style for the holiday season. Although not my favorite creation from the genius, you can’t hate on anything Wes creates, can you now?

  • So glad to see you’re getting on so well with skateboarding! I still remember that post where you talked about starting, well done girl ;-) I recently started learning a new language in my spare time and it’s been hugely rewarding too. Yay learning. • Love these little summaries of your life! Keep going with your skateboarding! I’m with you; often I feel like I want to stop doing things at what I’m not good at (like going to the gym haha) but it’s awesome to have that motivation!

    • rae

Thanks so much, Whitney! I am so glad you like the changes I have made to my Sunday posts – it’s really fun to share what has been going on in my life in more of a diary form like blogs were originally meant to be! And yes, I am happiest when I am motivated! Good luck with the gym, lady! That is one thing I still have not been able to manage to build into my schedule!

  • I think it’s cool that you’re learning more with skateboarding!

  • you’re skateboarding! that’s so cool :D

Anyone can do something they are naturally gifted at, but it takes even more drive to stick at something you aren’t the best at. — hashtag words to live by. i agree with this sentence but i can’t say i’m someone who does this practice well. laziness and fear can really be such a dominant pair sometimes. i do wish i have more courage to do things that i’m not used to or have never tried before though.

the article by drillinger is so entertaining lol it makes me cringe but it’s so hilarious :))
it reminds me how people also use other social medias like instagram to spam everyone’s timeline about how they’re doing anything and everything with their significant other. makes me cringe sometimes :P

omg wes anderson h&m vid! i love all his works so… ♥

    • rae

Thanks so much lady! It’s so much fun! And yes, that is the thing about not being naturally talented, you have to get over your own ego in order to go for it, and I think that alone is such a good practice. And yes, Drillinger is an absolute genius – as is Wes of course!

  • That is so cool that you finally got your ollie down! Also, just that you skateboard in general. I’ve tried long boarding and I’m still a noob, LOL. Thanks for linking up all these great reads, too. I was dying at the annoying things couples do on Facebook…the “posting pictures of you jumping all over the damn place” is too good.
