  • The effectiveness about our passports was an interesting read! I did know there were differences, just not by how much they differed. Will also try some of the vegan recipes soon! Although I’m not vegan I like to go vegan once in a while on my plate. Have a nice Sunday! :)

Let me know how the recipes turned out! I’ve already made 1 and 2 and they were both incredible.

      • So far I made the creamy garlic tomato pasta and it was lovely! As soon as my get my hands on avocados will try the avocado pasta as well, I need a little bit of summer flavors between the cold :)

  • I’ve seen the passport article around, it’s interesting. I feel pretty lucky that my Australian passport can get me into a lot of countries as a visitor without even a visa, it seems a bit unfair that other people aren’t.

The racialised sexism article is good too, thanks for the link!

I agree with you about passports. I am sure that it’s complicated and riddled with politics, but it’s really strange when you think about it that we claim to own the earth like we do and draw lines of demarcation meaning that as a human being the basic right to choose where to go on this earth is taken away from many people.

Glad you found the link on racialised sexism interesting as well!

  • oddly enough those spooky stories got me all excited :D

I am such a fan of reading reddit and other forum-style sites – you can really loose yourself in these kind of stories. It’s definitely a great way to waste time!

  • That HuffPo article was fascinating! Call me crazy but it never occurred to me how difficult it is to travel internationally. I’m probably ignorant to this because I hold only an American passport, so never thought anything of going to Japan, Korea, Philippines, anywhere really. And now when I stop to think of it, I realize the hoops my Filipino relatives must go through to obtain visas to come even for a wedding. I always thought it was just because the U.S. was difficult to travel to in general. I never thought it has to do with passports. I totally take freedom to travel for granted! Thanks for sharing that!

No problem, Kristine! Really glad you liked the article. Having an American passport really does make basic travel a lot easier. And even though I have had a lot of difficulties with the foreign office here in Berlin and getting residence permits, I can only imagine how more difficult it is for those coming from other countries whose passports are held in less esteem.

  • #1 was really interesting – and yes, yes to #5!

    Have a happy week, Rae!

  • I never really thought about how I’ve taken traveling on a US passport for granted until traveling with some international friends. Whereas they required visa applications, etc, I could just wave my passport and maybe pay a visa fee upon arrival. The realization was surprising to me at the time (even though it shouldn’t have been) and I had a hard time wrapping my head around being limited in where I could and could not travel to. It really brings to light the privilege that American travel anythings have when it comes to the travel industry.
