Why it’s so important to workout in a morning?

Being honest I wasn’t much of a morning person before I started working for myself. I mean, I used to wake up early only because of school and then work, and that definitely wasn’t very exciting at all. I always knew the importance of working out since I grew up with lots of active lifestyle around me (thanks to my dad, who’s big impact is hidden right here). However, I wasn’t always able to keep up with workouts since I didn’t have a proper daily timetable. Some days I needed to wake up incredibly early, and then I would be exhausted by the midday – so yeah, endless naps & food in the bed after work were necessary.

But since I became my own boss – I started taking my own daily routine like a boss as well. Right from the very beginning I made the workout routine as priority number 1, cause I knew how I feel after it’s, and that a good exercise in a morning later does wonders!

So here are the few reasons why it’s so important to workout in a morning as well as few exercises included down below!

1.It enhances your metabolism

Your body burns more calories after your workout in the morning, even when you’re sitting at a desk or driving in your car. So if you spend heaps of time in one static position during the day – morning workouts are the must!

2.Cultivates some consistency

Working out in the morning ensures that you don’t interrupt your workout schedule with other daily items that can seem more pressing. For example, if you exercise in the evening you run the risk of being late from work, feeling overloaded with errands that must be done, or saddled with other unexpected to-do items. Other times you may simple feel too tired to exercise by the end of a long day. But, in the morning there is nothing to distract you from getting down to business. Exercise will be your first priority and it will get done!

3.Improves your physical and mental energy

Movement can be a tremendous source of energy, something many of need when we start our day. But beyond that, morning exercise has been shown to improve focus and mental abilities all day long. Not only will you feel awake and have more energy after your workout, but your mind will be ready to take on whatever tasks you have lined up that day.

4. Helps you to develop strong self-discipline

Waking up early in the morning to exercise enhances your personal discipline. Just like any habit, developing the discipline to get up and exercise in the morning only gets easier with time. And this discipline is likely to spill over into other areas of your life. After all, if you’re going to such lengths to exercise each morning, pairing that with healthier eating, as an example, only makes sense.

5. Will help you to reach your fitness goals

And trust me when I say that! Waking up early in the morning to exercise places a high priority on physical fitness. Whether you are aware of it or not, committing to something that requires sacrifice creates a compelling argument in your mind that says ‘it better be worth it’. And yes, there will be results! The sacrifice required will subconsciously prompt you to work harder, look for more other ways to support your exercise result, and help you commit to the process over a longer period of time. A goal-oriented mindset is fostered by the sacrificial habit of morning exercise.

I hope these reasons are clear enough why you need to start exercising early in the morning if you haven’t yet :) As well as the exercises itself. Just make sure whichever exercise you’re doing – don’t forget to breathe. That’s the most important thing indeed! And then, after the workout session – make sure you also get some headspace! By that I mean a meditation, of if you aren’t a fan of those – just simply sit back and take deep breaths for couple of minutes. Allow yourself not to be taken by any serious thoughts, instead – fill your mind with something light and positive!

Thus, if you aren’t that good with meditation, or it’s just a beginning, or you would like to try something different and need some help with that – check my all time favorite meditation app called headspace! It’s real good y’all! They cover various of topics: from sport, health, to relationships, career and money. It will only take you 10 minutes, and that’s really nothing comparing to the after result!

  • I get excited about morning exercising every now and again, but the dark winter mornings and the cold air make the comfort seeker in me want to curl with my big mug of tea to warm up. I do agree, that morning exercise does wonders, though!

I totally understand you. I was the same, and I guess that’s one of the reasons why I’ve moved to Australia so I could skip those cold and dark winter mornings.
But even then it’s actually possible… all begins with the mindset! And once you start getting into routine – you find yourself working out early more often! x

      • You are right about that :)

  • Whenever I workout in the mornings I always feel way better for the rest of the day. My energy levels don’t dip as much, and I feel overall like I can accomplish more. But it can be difficult to wake up early enough to workout, especially if I’m already sleeping late each night. Though I do try to workout in the mornings. It feels soo much better!

Agreed! I do have the same feelings as well :) However, yes. It isn’t easy to get up earlier, especially during the colder season or if you had a late night in. But the matter of fact – this doesn’t have to be so daily, there has to be a balance as well! I try to keep up with early morning workouts as much as I can, but I agree it’s not always 100% possible, and we shouldn’t stress about that. Rather we should focus on the feelings after the workout and what good it does! :) And once you do that, you find yourself working out in the mornings more often!
