Earlier this week, my friend Joel and I met up to run some errands and take some photos for LFB. We met in Winsviertel, making a stop over at Bosener and Pinguin Druck – to pick up some paints and flyers, respectively. While in Boesner, walking around the isles, looking at all of the paints and brushes, I was hit with a pretty thick wall of nostalgia and brought back to those late nights that turned into mornings working in the studio back in University. It’s been a long time since I have picked up a piece of charcoal, but I’m hoping to somehow find my way back to drawing.
In the meantime, I have been lusting after not only the beauty of a finished piece of artwork, but the beauty of the act of creating – the moment when a brush touches a canvas, the way water suddenly becomes cloudy when a brush is dipped into it, the scratchy sound of charcoal on paper – and the imperfect beauty of a studio; a room full of chaotic organization, bathed in different colors from splatters and drops of paint.
