In life

This week has been pretty quiet, which was extremely welcome, as past few months have been an absolute whirlwind. I am trying to come to terms with not feeling bad when needing a break, since I generally feel like a naughty school kid skipping class or not doing his/her homework when not working. It’s just a lot harder to gauge what a much needed rest is versus just slacking off and being lazy when you freelance, as there are no set work hours or time-based measurable goals. However, this is actually one of the biggest parts about learning to freelance, and I am happy to belong for the ride and figure out just how to balance everything. I know that sometimes things get extremely busy for a good few weeks where I am working every day, so taking things slowly one week where things are a bit quiet is entirely appropriate not something I should ever feel guilty for.

In other news, I have been fighting with the postal service here in Germany for their lack of being able to deliver a package on time, let alone accept responsibility for the mistake or even apologize. It’s gotten to the point where I literally cringe at the thought of having things shipped to me either for personal or work reasons, as I never know if the package will ever even reach me. It’s like playing Russian roulette and for a blogger who needs to review things, it’s a bloody nightmare. I was expecting a package this Wednesday, which never reached me. Called customer service and literally had a screaming match with the woman on the other end before hanging up on her *BLEEEEEP*y ass. Called again a day later, and was promised the delivery on Saturday, and well what do you know… it was never re-dispatched. I swear, I could fill an entire blog with things that do my nut in here in Germany. That being said, there is still so much to love about this country, but the postal service is not one of them. DHL and DPD, I’m look at you.

All about these three different ways to have oatmeal in the morning, as nothing is better than a cuppa and a bowl of porridge in the winter. Bless.

  • Congrats on your interview with Oh January! I love how everything you share here has something to do with conscious living, and it was clarifying to see your answer to the question of conscious living and what you want your readers to go away with in a little paragraph :) // Oh boo the mail ): // Loving those coffee tables! • Great interview! It is lovely to learn more about you and your blog, which I’ve been following for good few years. I can relate to feeling guilty about taking a break! It was so hard at the start of my freelance life but it got easier over time as I realise that not having a rest hinder my creativity.

Congrats on your interview with Oh January! I loved your interview, it was really great and it was very insightful into your ideas about conscious living and your blog! Plus I loved the post you linked about misogyny in pop punk music. I’ve been a pop-punk fan since I was a kid and honestly its’ so refreshing to see an article talking about misogyny in music other than rap music (because that’s all anyone ever wishes to discuss when other genres are also heavily misogynistic).
    Hey Zaire!

  • Sometimes it’s nice to have a quiet week to catch up with yourself and how you’re feel ! I definitely relate to feeling like I’m doing something wrong when taking time to myself and it’s uper important to stop yourself from feeling like that :)

  • i hate it when postal service is so unreliable. you have one job! DDD:< the interview is lovely, rae. congrats! and oohhh, what a difference a good coffee table can make. i solemnly agree. have a much needed break, you lovely person xx

    • “You have ONE job” is one the funniest phrases ever.

  • Wow I thought Australia Post was bad with slow delivery and annoying parcel redirections 45 mins away! That’s terrible service. And I can’t even believe they’d treat customers that way let alone stay in business. This industry needs a huge shake up from competitors (if that’s even possible?)
