In Life

001: Photographed my first official wedding this Friday, which was an incredible experience. There are definitely many more things for me to still learn and improve on, but I am very motivated and happy with how the first set of photos turned out.
002: Will be leaving for Tuscany next week to shoot another wedding. Have planned to stay on for a few days and explore Florence for a few days as well.
003: Had a much needed girl’s night this Friday. If you are ever in Berlin, definitely check out Repeat. The drinks are absolutely amazing.

On the web's favorite links from around the internet

001: Gamestop just proved why you should definitely start making it a routine to read Terms of Services rather than just scrolling by and clicking “accept”.
002: In some alternate universe (which sadly is our own) this Swedish model was told she was too big for booking.
003: Want to optimize that workflow? Check out these 31 things you need to stop doing then.
004: Since none of us are going to stop photographing our food anytime soon (because it is just so damned fun and, I mean who doesn’t like ogling at beautiful photos of food?), check out UO’s interview with Issy Croker and learn how to take better photos of your food now. (auf deutsch)
005: Here on LFB, we are all about conscious living. Which is all about making considered choices for our insides, outsides, and the world around us. Part of taking care of our outsides comes down to our skincare, and making sure we know just what it is we are putting on our face. Keep things completely natural and organic with these 7 foods for your skin or check out natural brands who are both good for your skin and soul (read: cruelty free).
006: For any of you guys out there interested in true crime, this bizzare account of of a slender man stabbing is worth the read.
007: Continuing with true crime, an update on the Adnan Syed case.

001: Visual Stimulation 041: Bellerby and Co. – Ever wanted to know what goes into making handmade globes? Well then check this post out. In addition to exploring these beautiful handcrafted creations, this post also explores the difference between a thing and an object, a collection and clutter, and just exactly how we can be more conscious of what we decide to keep.
002: LFB’s about page has been completely revamped! This is definitely a great place for you newer readers to start and is also a great place for older readers who want a run-down on all the features (like Visual Stimulation, Instafinds, Anatomy of an Outfit, etc) LFB has to offer in one easy and convenient place organized by subject.
003:You can now find all of LFB’s podcasts in one easy place, including a short description about each one.
004: Off to the fitness studio and the lake today for some hangs. Trying hard to keep a consistent work out schedule and make every damned one of these last summer days count.

Don’t forget to check out LFB’s podcasts, ask me some questions & sign up for LFB’s first advice column.

  • That Swedish model is dead drop gorgeous! I’m an aspiring model and every time I see stories like this it enrages me that there are people like this in the industry that shame girls into this disgusting and poisonous way of thinking! Oh my gosh a wedding in Tuscany—how utterly amazing! Hope you have an amazing time, doll <3
    She Will Be

    • rae

I agree entirely. That girl is stunning and has a body that only 1% of the population are lucky enough to have to to be shamed for it is just absolutely terrible. And thanks, I hope i do too! have a wonderful week, Sylvia!

  • I was actually at a wedding this weekend, and my friend was the photographer. Not an easy job from start to visit, major respect for you there. Great experience though?

    • rae

Oh nice! And no it’s a pretty stressful job but I love it.

  • I guess it is pretty stressful to shoot a wedding, but if you get to stay in Tuscany it may be well worth it.

  • Congratulations on your first photographed wedding session :)

If you’re going to Florence I’d recommend you a one-day trip to either Siena or San Gimignano – check both places on the internet :) (you can read about San Gimignano on my blog, about SIena not yet :)) – the time has simply stopped there :)

    • rae

thanks Pati! I do not know if I will have time to do so this time around, as I will only be in Florence for a few days and wnat to soak up all that Florence has to offer, but I will definitely look into it!

      • Just wake up very early, rent a car and go there for a couple of hours! It’s a very attractive place, believe me :)

  • I love the flat lays, especially the darker one with the croissants – they’re like mini works of art. I’m definitely guilty of not reading the Terms before accepting, I’ll have to work on that!

    Angelina Is | Bloglovin’

    • rae

I am a huge fan of well done flat lays as well. I haven’t really taken any of my own shots in this way, but I think I might give it a go. And yes, I know, I am terrible when it comes to reading through Terms and Conditions. My ex-boyfriend always read them really thoroughly and I think he really was on to something. The cliche carefree stupid American in me just can’t be bothered, lol.

  • congrats dear, and great post:)

    • rae

      thanks, Konstantina

  • Loved the “31 things you should stop doing” post. It’s good to be reminded of all these things every once in a while. I bookmarked it so I can go back to it, hopefully that will help me make the last 6 months of the year more productive than the 6 firsts.

    xx, Charlie

    • rae

I definitely agree! Really hope it can help you out and that when you look back in 6 months you feel that you have been able to apply some of the tips and are more productive!

  • I just read that article about the SlenderMan crime – creepy does not even cover it.

    Saskia /

    • rae

      It’s such a bizarre case, isn’t it?

  • Great links! I’m so shocked how that pretty woman was told she was too big for modelling – what on earth?! She looks as fit as a (insert the fittest thing here) so how could she possibly not be accepted?! I think nowadays either you have to be like 0st and look like a little child or have good connections to get into the modelling industry!

    Pop over to my blog!

    • rae

So glad that you liked the links, and I agree entirely. Society is really warped when it comes to how they view female bodies.

  • Oh my! So many congratulations for shooting your first wedding — I’m sure it was incredibly beautiful!

Your life sounds quite fascinating… Tuscany + Florence, how beautiful! I hope to visit someday. :) I’m following along on Instagram now ( not sure why I wasn’t until now! ) but happy I am, can’t wait to see more of your travels!

So many thanks for including my write-up about Miss Violet Lace. :) You’re the best and I’m glad it resonated with you. I’m all about conscious living as well. Speaking of which, I am actually hosting a MVL giveaway on my blog ( ends tomorrow ) if you’d to enter. :)

    • rae

Thank you so much Latrina! It was so fun, but definitely a lot of work.

I hope you are able to visit Tuscany and Florence as well one day and thanks for the follow :) Some of the things I post are the same images that you will find on LFB but many are different ones I do not share here as well.

And of course, no worries, it was a really lovely piece!
