Editor-in-Chief of LFB Blogazine Rae shares with us what she has been wearing and thinking about lately...

Hey y’all. It’s been quite a ride turning LFB into a blogazine. A ride that has me up at 6:24 am still putting together the last finishing touches on issue 4. As with all new projects (especially ones where you strike out on your own and attempt to make something from scratch) it’s a lot of hard work. It’s doubly hard after being away for almost a month in both the UK and the US for holidays.

I literally said to my boyfriend this morning that I wished we could just pause time right then and there in the middle of preparing toast and cooking beans on the stove, play catch up, and when everything seemed to finally be in functioning order click play, butter dat toast and eat dem beans.

But life doesn’t work that way, does it? So instead, I’ve been sat at my computer for literally 12 hours+ (I’m legit surprised my arse has not become one with the seat cushion on this chair) banging everything out. But hey, you do what you love and you love what you do – even the tedious parts of the job.

One thing I know for certain is that once the groundwork is laid in place things should be a lot easier and there should be a lot less bumps and hiccups along the way. (And hopefully never a late issue again!) I also really hope to resume my level of writing for this series, as it has taken a turn for the rushed in between preparing assets, resizing, creating graphics, writing up other posts, and everything else in between.

I sincerely hope that you will let me off the hook this time with the promise from me that LFB Blogazine can only constantly get better. So for now I am off to finish all the other things on my mammoth to do list, but nonetheless, I really hope you enjoy this issue – there are some bangin’ articles from some lovely ladies that are really worth your time as well as some delicious recipe finds, interesting artist highlights, and cultural pieces about Berlin.

Oh, and if any of you have any suggestions, comments, praises, concerns, criticisms – constructive or otherwise, voice it in the comments! I would love to know what you think about the massive changes so far, what you are loving, what you think could be improved, and everything else in between.

Or hell, if you don’t have anything of that nature to add, let’s start some random discussion in the comments because the best part about being a blogazine and not just an online magazine is the LFB community and our ability to connect with each other and have real (albeit internet-based) conversations with one another.

So for now I am off, but I’m looking forward to hearing all of your thoughts on this current issue and excited for all the things we have planned for future issues. Until then, this is your editor-in-chief signing off…

    Rae,
I don’t know what you’re talking about because the new LFB is kicking ass!
I think being a little late is not a problem, because you keep the quality top notch. Quality takes time, so it’s a given.
I haven’t really followed LFB long before it’s turned into a blogazine, so I can’t really comment on the change. That being said, I’m loving the new LFB—loving the perspective and insights from various writers, which is an advantage, I find.

All that is to say that you’re doing great so far, Rae! Don’t beat yourself up! :)
Pat yourself in the back and say, “Good job!”

  • I’ve been reading LFB for 2 (or more) years now and have seen you take the site through several changes, and I’ve loved it every time. I especially love the blogazine for the extra perspectives and writers, some I knew before and others I’ve discovered through here. The start of something new is always rough, but you’ll always have a loyal reader in me – late releases or not! :)

  • Always around for a good time/LFB! To me, it doesn’t make a difference whether the issue is ‘late’ or not, I’m just excited to see your new material and content! Hope you had an amazing time in the UK and US – we must try and meet one day (:

  • Starting and setting everything up is always the hardest part, but once that’s sorted, everything else gets easier, just like you said! Hope you had a good time during your travels :) I have no idea how you create and curate all of this content so consistently, even when you’re traveling. I start summer break in a week and will be on a road trip for almost two weeks, so I’m planning to take a mini break from the blog while I’m gone! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

  • You rock, Rae! It has been really interesting (albeit an adjustment) to read the words of other ladies too in this space. I admit I look forward to reading one of your big writing pieces – I love your writing, but that doesn’t mean that all these articles aren’t also fab :) Keep it up girlfrand.

  • It’s ok you are testing out a new project and it’s great how passionate you are and how much you are putting into it. It really shows that you care about the content you share with us and I know I speak for a lot of us readers, we really appreciate your hard work because your writing, as well as the other ladies who contribute is always interesting and unique =o)

  • I think this issue is my favourite yet. It doesn’t surprise me you’ve been so busy working on it since you’ve been away, it must be hard to juggle everything but you’re doing a great job! Hope you’re well lovely :) x
