If you are living in Berlin and you are a big fan of music, the chances are that you already know about Fête de la Musique.

Fête de la Musique or Worldwide Music Day is celebrated at the start of summer every year on the 21st of June. Founded in Paris in 1982 by the French minister of Music at the time,  Jack Lang, it consisted of little more than “a humble burst of musical idealism and a few power connections”. Fête de la Musique has since become a global event. Of the 540 cities participating worldwide, 300 of these cities are located in Europe, 1/6 of which are located in Germany alone.

Here in Berlin, all styles of  live music will be performed on more than 100 stages in public places around the city – all for free. For more information, please take a look at the official program (in German) here.
