In the Home is all about interior design and making your cozy space your own.

As all of you know, I am currently in the process of re-doing my flat.( Which is basically like this long drawn out never ending process which I am entirely okay with since I have this fear that whenever I feel my flat is finally “finished,” I’ll want to re-decorate the whole damned thing all over again. That, and I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, so I am always thinking of new things to add or change in my home.) Well, this weekend, I made it over to ikea and picked up a few things for the kitchen and bedroom which I will be sharing with you guys soon. In order to stay motivated and inspired, I hopped on the good ole pinterest for a session of digging up even more photos of interiors to covet, pin to my boards, and help inspire me during this re-decorating phase.

Scrolling through these images should give you a good idea of the current interior focuses:

bohemian interior design inspiration

1: Foliage, and lots of it – just picked up two new plant friends this weekend at ikea
2: Low beds – still need to build a frame for my matress
3: vintage furniture in white or natural woods – working on it
4: candles – check
5: textiles with interesting patterns and prints – working on it
6: witchy details – working on it

Now if only Berlin had the kind of goodwills we have in Virginia full of cheap kitschy artwork and vintage dishware for two bucks a pop…

    • rae

Oh me too. If only I had wooden floors that I was allowed to paint and I agree that triangle display case is amazing. I bet it would not be too hard to make one, actually.

  • I love these, but I don’t know if I could keep so many plants alive haha! I’m due a visit to IKEA as well, gotta sort out some better storage!

    • rae

Trust me, I do not have any great track record for keeping plants alive but I am really trying hard this time! It helps that 80% of my plant collection consists of succulents though! And have fun at Ikea. I love-hate that place so much.

  • Yesssss to witchy details!!! I’m planning on buying my first apartment pretty soon and I’ve just started thinking about how I want to decorate it because I don’t want to do what I usually do when I first get into something new which is try out heaps of stuff that I end up not liking before I finally find my groove, since homewares aren’t the kind of thing you really experiment with like clothing because if you don’t like it where are you supposed to put it, y’know? I really want to figure out what I want first so I don’t waste time & money on stuff that doesn’t end up fitting in, or find myself with a room that looks messy and where nothing goes properly!

But basically everything you posted here is GORGEOUS and exactly what I’m into. I like the look of the sleek minimalist thing but I need the organised clutter and the witchy details, haha.

Girl, judging from your past blogposts, you have an incredible sense of personal interiod design style and I love your taste in home decorating. I kind of feel like your room is like a bedroom out of a Sofia Coppola film – a bit of “The Virgin Suicides” mixed with “Marie Antoinette.” Really excited to see what you will do with your first apartment though! I am sure it will turn out awesome but I do totally understand what you mean. Sometimes I will see cute things at Ikea or at the flea markets that I want to buy but think – ahhh damn this would not match with any of my current decor. I slowly started to not give a fuck though, and for a while things looked really messy, but it’s finally starting to come together in some strange random way. I started out completely girly kawaii shabby chic with my apartment though – at the beginning everything was super pastel and white, the hallway was painted lavender, and I had japanese stuffed animals everywhere. It was fun but not sustainable. Really liking the more grown-up vibe my flat has at the moment, haha.

  • I want to live in all of these places. I love the cozy but stylish vibe they all have. Ohio definitely doesn’t have any places like this.

    • rae

I think a healthy combination of cozy and stylish is definitely what I try to aim for. You want your home to look nice, but if it is not really livable, then it’s no fun either.

    • rae

I understand why things are more expensive on Etsy, as they are made my individuals and not large corporations, but yes, the prices are often too high for me to be able to afford as well. :( But yes, thrift shopping is a great way to find amazing pieces!
