There is something extremely refreshing about viewing the city you live in through someone else’s eyes. Especially when those eyes are able to capture that city in an entirely unique light, where you catch yourself discovering your current hometown in an entirely new way. That’s exactly how I felt when I stumbled upon these street photos of Berlin on tumblr a few weeks ago. It was as if I was looking at something all together new but familiar at the same time. Those pale pastel apartment complexes? Of course I had seen them before. Satellite dishes hanging off of the balconies? They’re everywhere in Kreuzberg. Still, there is something about the way that these photos were taken – probably the muted tones, strong geometric lines, symmetry, pastel colors, neutral quality, and deep depth of field – that make me actually think of Tokyo first, and Berlin second. Bravo to whoever took these pictures, wherever you are.
