In Life

001: Currently on a plane to Mubich en route to Berlin. While this trip has been a difficult one, I am glad that I was able to come home, spend time with loved ones, catch up with old high school friends, and indulge in old American autumnal traditions – which may or may not have included drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte for the very first time in my life (with soy milk and no whipped cream, of course).

004: These photos from Local Milk Blog make me wish every day was breakfast-in-bed day.
005: Who doesn’t love fresh flowers? I love picking some at the local florists and biking home with them in my basket (something about this little ritual just makes me so happy) but having them delivered to your door is just as sweet. For those in Berlin, check out Bloomy Days. For those in the US check out BloomNation, a flower delivery service that supports local florists through their online marketplace.

007: A really interesting article on vocal fry and what it means when a women opens her mouth and uses it.

  • The articles you linked about vocal frying, and dying are incredible. I will admit I do deepen my voice during meetings, and tend to stick to that while I higher my pitch with my friends. It’s a subconcious thing that I just realized now but it’s very interesting how speech itself is interlinked with sexism.

The article about death hits home though. Death is not just someone’s life ending but the ending of an existence and the effects of their death. That realization is terrifying. Thank you so much for these brilliant articles <3

  • I think it may just be me, but I don’t mind vocal fry, in fact I think it can be a bit attractive on some people. I guess it’s one of those things that turns into a pro if you like the person, and is super irritating if you don’t.

Life hacks all the way! Thanks for linking to some more (:

  • I don’t get the pumpkin thing! Then again where I live it’s spring moving into summer and Halloween is not as widely celebrated. Personally I don’t even like pumpkin as a veggie, but I am feeling those planters. Pumpkin wasn’t the first thing that came to mind when seeing those though! Speaking of life hacks, I saw a funny meme of one telling people to sky diving(? something sans parachute and off the back of a light aircraft) into the ocean. Actually I don’t know what was more funny, the one liner comment below the “life hack” image of the FB comments that followed on.
