Speaking at the So|Mingle event

001: Participated in my first panel discussion about creative work, freelancing, and blogging at So|Mingle in Berlin organized by the lovely ladies of So|Gush and had such a blast. It was such an honor to get to be a part of such a wonderful event full of so many creative and inspiring people.

  • The panel discussion sounds like an interesting one!
White-washing of Asian roles in Hollywood is so maddening. i’m so glad the discussion around this is gaining traction.

  • A huge congratulations on the panel, Rae, it must’ve been such a wonderful event! I especially loved the link about Asians in Hollywood. Being Chinese and being extremely proud of being Chinese, I do get behind movements and influencers who push the issue of Asians in Hollywood to the surface. Starring John Cho is such a creatively inspiring movement, thank you for sharing!

  • I read the article in vice about the clean eating which was great it’s so good people are talking about it because everyone thinks this attitude towards food is somehow healthy which it totally isn’t <3

    The Quirky Queer

  • The whole controversy on Scarlett Johansson is really disheartening. Asians have almost no visibility in Hollywood, and it’s a shame that execs are so afraid of using them. White actors really need to start standing up for what is right, and rejecting roles such as these, especially those who are always have roles coming their way. Scarlett did not need to play that role.

I am definitely going to read the article about clean eating, I feel as though there is so much misinformation circling the media about that! Congrats on the panel discussion that is such an amazing accomplishment, good for you Rae! Taking one photo every day seems like a wonderful idea, I tend to do that on a regular basis and love looking back at my memories. I think making sure you find balance between knowing when to take photos and when to put your phone/camera down is important too, but I completely agree with the idea and follow it dearly! Lovely post as always Rae :)

  • I love the idea of taking a photo a day, but I tried the #100happydays challenge and didn’t make it. They don’t call it a challenge for nothing! I get stuck in routine and sometimes a whole day could just be me sitting at my computer at a coffee shop. In fact I’ve done that for the last three days which is pretty sad, but I start work tomorrow so hopefully things will get more exciting! Definitely worth trying out again though :) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
