As you guys may have read from my recent post, finding a balance between blogging and photography has been difficult. Now, the beautiful thing about blogging is that it is a visual art, which means I am actually constantly taking photos, editing them, and creating something beautiful. The problem is that it is often only content related to LFB. This means that I do not have as much time for exploring my own creative projects or earning money with photography through doing client work.

However, I am really looking to change that, by creating my own at-home studio. That being said, I do still try to find time at least once a week when I am in Berlin to organize photoshoots. As it currently stands, these shoots do have to take place outside, which is difficult as Berlin is not really the sunniest of places, and it is rather cold. Sometimes I seriously wonder if Berlin is the right city for a photographer, and I miss working with the sun, but on those lucky days where the sun is shining, I try to make the most of it.

I shot these portraits of the lovely Ani and Irene a few months back and have been waiting to share them with you guys. I really hope you enjoy this series, and remember, if you are in Berlin or the DC-metropolitain area, do not hesitate to write to me. I would be happy to schedule a sitting with you for portraits, couple shots, engagement photos, outfit posts for blogs… you name it, we can do it. Just send me an email at raetashman@gmail.com and we can talk about rates!

These are such gorgeous shots. I love how…carefree they feel. Like, they make me think of how we all probably felt as teens, wanting to have freedom and to just be ourselves.

What great shots! I love how you play with the light and shadows – the pictures are at once serious and playful. Love that!

  • Magic hour! I think the way you use lighting and depth of field in these shots is gorgeous. Most importantly, you seem to capture them in moments of feeling. These photographs tell a story and aren’t just pretty. There is a slight uncertainty behind the eyes of the girl with the short hair (Ani or Irene?). As you go through the photo set, she seems to slowly grow more comfortable with the camera, but there’s a question that remains on her face the entire time. Or maybe I’m reading WAY too much into this work. =p

  • These are GORGEOUS, so vibrant, yet real, and easygoing. I’m glad you’re getting to pursue photography more and more hopefully!

  • I love these portraits! I’ve never done a session with more than one person, but these two look so natural with each other. If you have any tips on getting your subjects to relax, I’d love to hear them! I’ve tried talking with them, but then I get too many shots of them talking with their mouths in odd positions.
