In the Home is all about interior design and making your cozy space your own.
I am currently back in Berlin and am on a mission to not only re-do my flat but make it the coziest mother fucking flat in all of Berlin. And so I brought back about 5 yankee candles (to say I am obsessed with making my house smell like pumpkin pie for the next few months is an understatement) with me in my suitcase which somehow did not throw me over the weight limit, as well as some Pumpkin Spice Brulee Oolong Tea, (Teavana, if you are listening and would ever be interested in a partnership, let me know. Just kidding, no one even reads this blog anyway) and have been chilling with the kitties on the sofa with my heated sitting cushion (I’m too damned cheap to turn the heating on just yet) going through pinterest for some inspiration to aid me in this challenge. So far, this is what I have come up with:
Ingredients for a cozy boho autumnal oasis
1: Candles
2: Loose teas
3: handmade mugs
4: fuzzy fake sheepskin blankets and throws – lot’s and lot’s of them.
5: crystals and geodes
6: fairylights
7: dream catchers
8: mismatched rugs (possibly overlapping)
Just a side note: In Germany, because there aren’t any buffer holidays between Christmas like halloween and thanksgiving, the stores are already filling up with Christmas decorations and food. (TOO SOON.) As much as I love Christmas (as any Jewish child who grew up in the south staring longingly at the Christmas trees in the windows of my neighbors’ homes and at the Christmas decorations on all the other houses would – true story), October and November are two of my favorite festive months in the US and I want to enjoy autumn before winter. I want to soak up all the coziness of pumpkin pies, turning leaves, brisk fall walks bundled up tight, curling up on the sofa with a tea and a good book, and rounding it all off with a friendsgiving dinner by candlelight with good company, before launching into the coziness of winter and Christmas. (If any of you are as obsessed with being cozy as I am, you definitely understand that there is a difference between fall cozies and winter cozies)
