I am a self-professed food enthusiast despite having a million and one food allergies. Which explains my penchant for ordering take out on an embarrassingly regular basis. Cue segue into talking about one of my favorite delivery services: foodora.
I am pretty sure most of you have heard of foodora, or other food delivery services like it, but if not, here is the 411: foodora is an online service that connects local restaurants with local residents (and possibly tourists as well). Based on your location, restaurants near to you will be available for delivery. You simply pick what you want, place it into your online basket, cry because you are now approximately 20 Euros poorer, and wait for a bike courier to bring you the nomnoms from your local favourite joint.
I love a company whose principle is based on supporting local (shameless plug, our SUPPORT LOCAL issue is dropping in less than 2 weeks!) so I am a huge fan of foodora beyond the fact that they bring food to lazy individuals like me (true story, the other week my boyfriend and I were eating at a local Italian restaurant and witnessed a food courier pick up food from the restaurant, proceed to get into his car, only to get right out and deliver food one door down across the street.).
foodora has also recently gone beyond being just a local food delivery service and have begun incorporating events into their repertoire of all things food. Their latest event in Germany? Bites & Vibes – an event bringing together different local popular restaurants who work with foodora and DJs playing everything from Chill House to Tech-House for some amazing Berlin street food open air vibes. A noodle bowl from Beets & Roots was definitely the highlight of the event as was the venue, Birgit & Bier, a local venue in Kreuzberg with pretty authentic Berlin vibes.
