After what has got to go down in history as the longest moving process ever – seriously guys, I (with the help of amazing friends) have been moving boxes and furniture back and forth from my old flat to my new one for the past 3 weeks – I have officially moved into my new flat! I’m honestly not sure what I would have done if it weren’t for my friends and boxie 24 (previously: box at work)* – (more on that later!).

Yes, I am currently living out of boxes and am waiting to get my kitchen built (yup, that’s right. In Germany it’s relatively common to move into a new flat with no kitchen… or lights for that matter), but the internet is up and running, so I LFB is back in business! In addition to all of the regular series, I can’t wait to share with you guys all the move-in happenings – from how to sty green while moving, to new interior finds!

  • Congrats on the move! They can be so stressful! I had my kitchen renovated earlier this month and just a week of not being able to easily make some dinner was horrible. I ended up living on pizza and by Friday I had no energy whatsoever. Anyway, great to have you back and looking forward to your posts!

Thank you so much Inma! A friend of mine said that the most stressful times in your life are moving, experiencing a death, and getting married! There has been so much to do and there have been moments that have been very demanding so far, but amazingly, I have only gotten stressed a few times. I think it has helped that I have an incredible friend named Thommy who has been helping me with every step of the way. Also moving over the course of a few weeks actually somehow makes things easier, since it’s all about doing a little bit at a time.

I can totally sympathise with you about it being so hard to be without a kitchen! I am a huge cooker, so it has been rough – although I must say that there are so many great places to eat at and order from here in Berlin!

And thanks, I am so glad to be back, and even more happy that you are happy to LFB being back and running!

  • Congratulations on the move! Hope your kitchen is completed soon!

Thanks Michelle! I hope so too!

  • Welcome back :) And congrats on the move

Thanks so much, Kristien! So happy to be back too!

  • Congrats on the move! And that is quite weird, I didn’t know that was common in Germany. I always assumed that there would be something there! Goodluck with all that

Thanks so much Natalie! Yes, I know my parents still cannot believe it and when they tell our family friends or new people, they are also always super shocked as well. Some of the kitchens do come with a built-in but it’s about a 50% 50% chance.

  • Congrats on the move! It must be difficult to just be living in boxes, though a part of me thinks it’s so cool to live like that, almost nomadic. Can’t wait for the new posts <3

Thanks so much, lady! It is only difficult because all the boxes look the same so I have to kind of just memorize which box is located where, but it honestly isn’t too bad! I def. do still look forward to finally getting my sofa on Thursday though!

Congrats! Moving can be such a hassle and quite stressful, I absolutely agree…can’t wait to hear all about it!

Thank you so much! It is definitely very involved and tiring, but has been relatively okay so far! I think I only came to my tipping point once or twice while packing as I started to feel like it was never ending, but other than that it has been relatively okay. I think it has helped that I have had so many great friends help me (especially Thommy, who has been there every step of the way) and the fact that moving over the course of a good few days means that I have been able to do a little bit each day.

  • Yay you’re back! Good luck with all the sorting out, looking forward to hearing about it!

Thanks, lady! Can’t wait to catch up on your blog and adventures as well!

  • Not even lights? Geez, and I thought it was bad in Prague when you move in without Internet or an elevator :))

    • rae

Ah yes, there is no internet here when you move in either. I mean we have the outlets, but you need to set up your internet by picking a company. How does it work in Prague? Oh, and half the buildings have elevators and half don’t – depending if you move into an older or new building – my new place has no elevator, but I like having to walk 3 flights of stairs cos it forces me to get some exercise each day!

  • Welcome back, Rae <3 missed you (as everyone did too, I'm sure) – I never knew about this whole lights situation?!?! How bizarre! In the meantime, take it easy and see you back real soon!

Thanks so much Cherie, and it means so much to hear that you missed LFB’s post! Yes, isn’t the light situation crazy?! Although It is entirely normal here, it definitely was a bit of a shock for me as an American.

  • Yikes, no kitchen! Hang in there girl :P
Do we got the chance to check out your new flat soonish? ^_^
Good thing we have Internet though! Xx

Thanks so much, Sara, and I could not agree with you more! Decorating is really where the fun comes in!

  • Yay new flat time! I bet you can’t wait to have your flat completed and made into ‘YOUR’ space. It must be exciting and ever so slightly stressful too what with the kitchen still being fitted. Still, have fun and don’t go too crazy with the homeware!! :P

  • Congratulations on moving in! Super excited for you and to see what you have been up to! Enjoy some relaxing time first though =o)
