Not everything always works out the way you plan. And My “Unsolicited Advice from a 20-something year old hot mess” is one of those things. You see, I have had an overwhelmingly positive response in terms of people who have signed up for the newsletter but have had some difficulty actually getting questions from you guys, which renders the column pretty pointless – that is, unless I start making up my own questions to ask myself. And while „faking it until you make it“ definitely does have its valid applications, doing so in this situation would feel just a tad bit ridiculous. Bare in mind that I am happy to have tried something new with LFB and do not regret the idea. Generating new concepts and trying new things that may be hits or misses is integral to the growth of any big idea or project. But it is also equally important to admit when something isn’t working and move on to other big ideas and projects – or learn from what didn’t work and refine your thesis and evolve your concept – which is why I am writing this post.

As I have already said, the actual amount of you guys who have signed up for the column have made me so happy and each time I get an email notification from Mailchimp of new subscribers, I get even more pumped. You guys clearly have an interest in receiving email content from LFB, which is why I have modified the content for LFB’s newsletters. Therefore, I bring you the Conscious Living bi-weekly Challenge newsletter. You will now be receiving an email every two weeks which will focus on one specific action that you can take in order to practice an aspect of conscious living for those next 14 days.

rae tashman - lovefromberlin.net

Now you all know just how important conscious living is to me and this blog. I love writing posts about different aspects of conscious living, how they affect our lives, and how we can make steps towards critical thinking and critical living in order to live a more thoughtful existence. But besides just writing here on LFB in detail about conscious living, I would like for us all to keep this concept active in our daily lives and work on practicing conscious living. One of the best ways to make small changes or become more aware of things is through small incremental changes. It makes much more sense in terms of successful longevity to slowly adjust your actions, rather than to try to radically overhaul your lifestyle in one big go.

rae tashman - lovefromberlin.net

These things are not necessarily cumulative in the sense that you need to continue doing each additional challenge onto of the other but are meant to spur you into action, to cause you to think about your choices, and become the best version of yourself. It is also up to you how you choose to continue with the tasks delineated in each challenge past the 14 days. Perhaps one really speaks to you and you are able to figure out a way how to incorporate the task in your own way into your daily life.

All in all, this is not meant to be homework or to add more stress in your life. On the contrary, it is meant to help you reach a more fulfilling existence through more deliberate consideration for both yourself, those around you and the environment you live in. The first column will be released this Sunday, so stay tuned or sign up if you haven’t done so already! So excited to finally get the ball rolling and I really hope you guys will like the column!

Ah so glad you enjoyed it! And I am glad to get you thinking about the subject. To be honest, I am not sure if conscious living is even a real “thing” but I came up with it a few years back and think it is a great title for all things done with consideration and kindness!

  • Conscious living is always something that I strive to do a little more of. Right now it’s fairly limited to writing down the little things in life that I love over a glass of wine at the end of each week. Also trying to catch up on whichever Brain Pickings articles I haven’t read yet. But regardless, I always feel a bit happier with life when I actively make time to savor it (both the good and the bad). [=
