It has been a while since I have updated you guys with a progress report on how my flat re-design is coming along. Things got put on hold for a while, as I was more focused on christmasifying the fuck out of my flat, amongst other things.
Well now that Christmas has come and gone, I’ve resumed my little home project. Although there are definitely changes to still be made to the bedroom, like putting up some wall art behind the bed, I have moved on to focusing on fixing up the living room.
The first order of business was re-arranging the furniture. The second? Creating a cozy bohemian feel through textures, colors and patterns. Not having the budget to buy an entirely new sofa, I repurposed my old one by getting new throws and pillow cases (which I will be posting about next) and drowning it in coziness. I have, however, managed to snag one new item: the loveliest chair ever.
I had actually been eyeing it for months at one of the local shops in Berlin, called Victoria Met Albert. The chair also came with a hefty price tag and I could not justify shilling out several hundred dollars for something that only me bum would be sitting on. And so each time I would pop into the shop, I would stare longingly at the chair, imagining how it would look in my flat, adding that much needed unique touch to my living room, and slowly walk away, trying not to turn back around, lest my strength not be strong enough to prevent me from whipping out my credit card then and there and impulse buying the hell out of that chair.
Seeing as the chair was located in a boutique and not a chain, I also knew that it wasn’t going to be going on sale anytime soon – if ever. So, I did what any sensible woman on a mission with a weak spot for interior design would do: I asked to see the chair, noticed there were a few small imperfections on the upholstery, and asked if I could have a discount. Shameless, I know. But guess what? After a store employee photographed the small imperfections, and sent it over to the manager, the manager agreed to wack off 15%, which amounted a wopping 95€ savings, AND free delivery. Needless to say, I snatched it up then and there.
The moral of the story? Always try to get a discount. Just kidding. There is absolutely no moral to this story. (Except maybe that sometimes you deserve to treat yourself every once in a while to ridiculous things like beautifully upholstered chairs.) But I can say that this little beauty fits perfectly in the once empty corner near my living room window and has since become the favorite chill spot for my cat, Hexe. Yup. After all that, I actually rarely find myself even sitting in it at all, seeing as it has been monopolized by a cat. But hey, at least it looks absolutely stunning in my living room, right?
