Visual Stimulation features the best of all things visual, creative and inspirational.
I am a huge fan of photography in terms of creating it and consuming it. But my first love was with the fine arts. As I work my way re-establishing my personal relationship with creating my own fine art, I also have re-awoken my love for appreciating fine arts as a viewer as well. To be fair, I have always loved art museums and looking at painting and sculptures in person, but I have definitely devoted a lot more of my online time looking for inspiration in photography. This probably has a lot to do with both the fact that photography is both a passion and a career choice for me and that I somehow feel like the context for viewing fine art always seems to be an art gallery or museum, but there is no reason to be be inspired by incredible fine artists on instagram and on the web. Cue Ana Santos.
While I do not know too much about this incredible artist, I have really fallen in love with both her work. Not only does she handle lines incredibly, but her color choices feel both warm and feminine – inviting and homey – but also young, playful, fresh, and free. I am also just absolutely in love with the beauty of the women she draws and paints as well as her tendency to work geometric shapes and animals into these portraits at well – which somehow doesn’t feel out of place but appropriate.
